A grant: SHIFT Stipendium from Stuttgart City. With this I could start my idea to share stories as comic strips. Some of our stories as (Asian) migrants in Stuttgart, Germany – ZEBRAS Stories.​

​All stories were published on our Instagram collective: ZEBRAS.collective.

​For the research part, I was talking, meeting, and interviewing people... Through the process I was learning... I can write a long story. (I love making short projects more than epic long projects. That's why I turned out to be a graphic visual artist, not an architect.)

Over 30 raw stories I got from this part. At the end, some were selected, some will be combined with others... In total we have 14 stories, including the intro story. These are based on true stories from people I talked with, mixed with my perspective and some parts of my own.

"Banal, daily situations, Love & Hate" is the main idea of ZEBRAS Stories.
Creation comes from the banal. Most of the gags here as well.

This comic is in Denglish (English + German), depending on the situation. As an artist, I want to show how we as migrants perceive the world. We live in more than two languages. The whole stories are also not presented in my mother tongue.
Would I present or write the whole stories the same way in my mother tongue?

In the last 5-6 Yrs. Things changed and happened a lot. Since Pandemie I could even planned my life longer than 5 yrs.
How could we know,  what 's gonna happen tomorrow?

Right now...just keep living as I want. (Sounds easy but... It's quite tricky... at least for me.)
Living as I want with my lovely career as an illustrator, visual artist, creative workshop moderator, as an Asian in Germany.
A simple Living as I want with my cat and be happy everyday in my life.
Life if too short to have silly negative feeling - thoughts all the time, isn't it?

Walk & Draw? 
Ein kreativer Zeichenworkshop während eines Spaziergangs durch die Stadt. Wir laufen, beobachten, plaudern und zeichnen gemeinsam mit kleinen Übungen das, was wir unterwegs wahrnehmen.
Der Fokus liegt nicht auf perfektem Zeichnen, sondern auf "Wahrnehmung und Kreativität".

Wie sehen, hören, riechen, fühlen und erleben wir unsere Umgebung?

Seit der Pandemie habe ich Walk & Draw mit verschiedenen Gruppen auf unterschiedlichen Routen in Stuttgart gestartet. Jede Route ist anders – bisher sind wir noch nie denselben Weg zweimal gegangen.

Ist Walk & Draw wie Urban Sketching?
Jein!
Walk & Draw ist kein klassischer Urban-Sketching-Stammtisch und kein komplett freies Zeichnen. Stattdessen gibt es während des Spaziergangs verschiedene Zeichenübungen und kreative Aufgaben.

Diese Übungen helfen dir, freier zu zeichnen und deine eigene Art des Skizzierens zu entdecken.
Manche Übungen wirken am Anfang vielleicht ungewöhnlich – aber genau dadurch erweitern wir unsere kreativen Grenzen.
Der Workshop ist ideal für Menschen, die:

• Zeichnen ausprobieren möchten
• ihre Kreativität wiederentdecken wollen
• die Stadt auf eine neue Art erleben möchten
• gerne draußen kreativ sind

Kann ich teilnehmen, wenn ich nicht zeichnen kann?
Ja, absolut!

Viele Teilnehmer sagen am Anfang:
„Ich kann nicht zeichnen.“

Meine Antwort ist immer:
Jeder kann zeichnen – es geht nicht um Talent, sondern nur üben und weiter zeichnen.
Das Ziel des Workshops ist nicht, „schön“ oder „perfekt“ zu zeichnen.
Es geht um:

• einen freien Kopf
• frische Luft
• Bewegung deine Körper und deine Hand, die sich mit dem Stift bewegt.

Die Workshops sind offen für alle Zeichenlevels – von Anfänger bis Fortgeschrittene.

Niemand muss seine Zeichnungen vor der Gruppe präsentieren. Aber wer möchte, kann Ideen teilen und sich austauschen.

• 3–11 Jahre: Teilnahme mit Eltern
• ab 12 Jahre: Teilnahme auch alleine möglich

Walk & Draw ist eine schöne Möglichkeit für Familien, gemeinsam kreativ zu sein.

Die Teilnahmegebühr ist all-inclusive. Alle Materialien werden bereitgestellt. Jede Person erhält ein kleines Skizzenheft, das sie nach dem Workshop mit nach Hause nehmen kann.

Die Workshops finden meist in Denglish (Deutsch + Englisch) statt – je nach Gruppe.
Walk & Draw ist bewusst für eine internationale und gemischte Gruppe gedacht.
Wichtig ist nur: Offenheit und Lust auf kreative Übungen.

Die meisten Walk & Draw Workshops finden derzeit immer ÖPNV-nah statt, wo genau gebe ich kurz vor jedem Termin bekannt. 
Allg. biete ich den Workshop im Stuttgartgebiet, wo ich derzeit wohne (und noch ein paar Mal in Berlin).

My Background?
Ich habe einen Hintergrund als Architektin und Set-Stylistin für Wohnmagazine.
Heute lebe ich als (Live-)Illustratorin, Grafikdesignerin und Leiterin von Kreativworkshops – mehr als "Full-Time-Job". :)
Die Verbindung zwischen Stadtrundgang und Kunst begleitet mich schon seit Jahrzehnten. Mit Walk & Draw möchte ich diese Leidenschaft mit anderen Menschen teilen – und gemeinsam neue Perspektiven auf unsere Städte entdecken.

Can I join if I can’t draw?
Yes, absolutely!
 
Many participants say at the beginning:
"I can’t draw."
My answer is always:
Everyone can draw – it’s not about talent, it’s about practice!

The goal of the workshop is not to draw “beautifully” or “perfectly.” It’s about:

• A clear mind
• Fresh air
• Body movement (walk....draw)  Moving your hand  with the pen
  
  

The workshops are open to all skill levels – from beginners to advanced.
No one has to present their sketches to the group. But if you want, you can share ideas and exchange thoughts.

• Ages 12 and up: can join alone

Walk & Draw is a wonderful way for families to be creative together.

Materials?
The participation fee is all-inclusive. All materials are provided.
Each participant receives a small sketchbook to take home after the workshop.

Workshops usually take place in Denglish (German + English), depending on the group.
Walk & Draw is deliberately designed for an international and mixed group.
The only important thing is being open and willing to try the creative exercises.

I have a background as an architect and set stylist for interior magazines. Today, I live as (Live) illustrator, Graphic designer and 
Creative workshop host. The combination of city exploration, drawing, and art has been part of my life for decades.

I Love Big Formats!
I’m so happy to see my work displayed on a wall again — and this time, it’s on the glass wall for the "Community Space" in the
Haus der Geschichte Baden-Württemberg. Big Thanks for asking me. 

In this illustration, I’ve mixed in some important keywords that are meaningful and closely related to Community Space.
This space is designed as a flexible occasions — mainly to support projects and organizations in Baden-Württemberg.
My idea was to combine my artistic style with functionality. I intentionally left areas that can be used like a board — where users can write directly on the glass or stick up their information about what’s happening inside the space.

I was there on the day they started installing my artwork.
This time was printed by Rosspartner Stuttgart — such a professional and amazing team. Huge thanks to them! 🙏
