Order via das puzzle kollektiv - official website Kesselgut #madeingermany #madeinstuttgart #daspuzzlekollektiv As some may already know, I've harbored a tattoo plan since my teenage years. However, it wasn't until I became a full-time illustrator and crafted some delightful cat designs for Cattober in 2022 that I found the perfect image. Cats have become the muse for my work, and some of my favorites have even been turned into stickers (check them out in the Mayha Artstore). Realizing I wanted one of these designs as my own tattoo, the question arose: who could bring this to life for me? Most tattoo artists stick to their own illustrations, which is understandable. That's when I met Simone from 100Hz Tattoos at our shared co-working space in Johannesstrasse. She happily agreed to tattoo my cat design, and we even teamed up for a "Giveaway," tattooing three lucky winners with my illustrations. About 100Hz Tattoos: Simone's style is distinct from mine—fine, clean, and detailed. You can now get a tattoo with her at Lord’s Bodega, where she is a resident artist.
Beyond stickers, explore "limited" temporary tattoos in my shop. Made in Germany, they're vegan, and kid-friendly. From foods and vegetables to abstract lines and, of course, cats, there's something for everyone! PS: Want a real tattoo from my illustration? Write me :) hello@mayha-suaysom.com Before Christmas Eve, I want to share my exciting journey at the Angoulême Comic Festival this year. The festival in 2024 will take place from the 25th to the 28th of January (check their official website here) From my experience, I can confidently say that this event is worth visiting every 1 or 2 years. The festival sprawls across the entire city, featuring comics and illustrations integrated seamlessly like street art (distinct from other countries). Helpful Tips and Tricks: 1. Traveling by Train: Getting a train is very easy and economical. Angoulême is conveniently located near Bordeaux. I personally took a TGV from Stuttgart to Paris (about 3 hours) and then a direct local train to the city. 2. French: 99% of the event is conducted in French (despite its "international scale"), Google Translate can really help you . However, if you know French, everything gets smoother! So you can fully engage with the exhibitions and explore newly published books from French publishers. 3. Culinary Exploration: Don't miss trying Picon beer – It was my first time experiencing this unique French beer and I love it! 4. Weather Preparations: Be mindful of the weather in January, which can be challenging. Bring essentials like a scarf and gloves, especially since you may have to wait in line outside various exhibition venues. (I was waiting in a line outside for 3 hours and for sure, after that it's not good. :/) Now, go ahead and enjoy your time at the festival! Voila! :) #journeyingermayha
https://www.bdangouleme.com/ On the 2nd Advent, I received the exciting news that the first edition of 0711 was SOLD OUT! 😄 The next round will be available starting January 2024. Last time I wrote about the puzzle. READ it here!
Where to find 0711 and other puzzles from many artist, manufactured by a local brand, made in Stuttgart: das puzzle kollektive - there own website - Kesselgut, Breitscheidstr. 4 Stuttgart (My other prints are also available there. ) -Selekkt #0711 #madeinstuttgart This was my first time in Lucerne and at Fumetto. 😄 In April, I was thrilled that my comic strip "Same Same but Different" was exhibited at the Fumetto Comic Festival in Lucerne. Fumetto is a classic comic festival in Switzerland, similar to others in European countries like Angoulême (France), Bologna Children's Book Fair (Italy), and Salon Erlangen (Germany). This year also marked my first visits to Angoulême and the Bologna fair. I will write about both events later. For Fumetto, I decided to showcase some of my recent stories along with some fresh ones that the audience could see for the first time at the festival. And, of course, there was a Live Mural on the window display! My work was located at DQ Solutions. Not only did I visit other works by wonderful artists and illustrators, but it was also awesome to connect with fellow artists and fans at the festival. I will write a bit about this and some parts of Lucerne in Fumetto part 2
Nice Comic festivals to visit: Angoulême (France) Bologna Children's Book Fair (Italy) Salon Erlangen (Germany) Stuttgart Comictage (Germany) Comic Invasion Berlin (Germany) Hamburger Comic festival (Germany) For Fumetto, I'd like to share my experience participating in the festival. In this blog post, I'll take you on a journey through the city, showcasing where I was during the festival and highlighting some outstanding works and exhibitions from various artists this year 2023. PS:
Have you ever wondered why Stuttgart lacks a dedicated space for small businesses, beginners, and hobby artists to showcase and potentially sell their work? I have this question after discovering a market with a hefty 200EUR rent for just 2 days. Even though you have the option to sell your artwork at a flea market, it might not be the ideal fit for us. :/ This sparked an idea. I connected with Jess, the creative mind behind Hieronyma (a jewelry and illustration shop), and Sara from KULTUR KIOSK (KK). The question arose: Should we take the initiative and organize a market ourselves, relying on volunteer support (Ehrenamt)? Our plan was simple but impactful: host a market once a month from June to September. While the beginning was 'too quiet,' the momentum picked up, culminating in our last market being fully booked! This success brought immense joy. Those who joined us understood that our art market wasn't solely about sales; it was a platform for presentation, connection-making, and understanding Stuttgart's challenging market dynamics. The event even caught the attention of the press, which was a significant win. However, our collaboration with KK is now a cherished memory since KK has permanently closed. Organized by Sara Dahme and supported by Kulturförderung Stuttgart, KK's closure is widely known, and the possibility of its revival in another location remains uncertain. Artists and Participants*
